In Genesis 13:14, God asked Abraham to look north, south, east and west, and promised to give him all that his eyes could see. But way down verse 17, He asked him to do more than just casting a glance. Abraham was rather asked to add to just looking, a more demanding action of bracing up, owning up, sitting up, getting up, squaring up for a clearer vision and better understanding of what he would be possessing.
In the same way, God is asking us to go beyond the passivity of just looking at what He has in stock for us, He wants us to actively take some necessary actions towards them. When? Now! Right away! When God says ARISE, WALK THROUGH THE LAND, He wants us to:
Get A Bigger And Better Understanding Of The Vision(Luke 14:28-31)
Proper and comprehensive assessment is achieved when one takes a walk through a place. When we walk around, better information is accessed concerning the size and the nature of the land. A better idea of the possible challenges are envisaged during the exercise of arising and walking around.
Get Adequate Preparation (2 Tim 2:15)
Arise, walk through the land means; inspect the situation properly as to make adequate preparation to handle it. Once you know the magnitude of the task you are about to take, you will get more prepared to match it.
How Then Can We Arise And Walk Through The Land?
Write down the vision (Hab 2:2).
Write down the visions and goals you have for each month, year, or for your life. A written down vision serves as a guide when you are walking through the land. The only vision that stands the test of time is the one that is written down.
Take actions towards your vision/goal regularly (Eccl 11:6). No matter how small and how insignificant the steps towards your vision may be, keep taking them on a daily basis. CONSISTENCY is the word here! You will see how great a progress you have been able to make after a long while.
Expand your knowledge through books (1 Tim 4:13)
Get information from authorities in your area of interest through reading. Improve yourself by staying current. Know your Bible by reading it regularly, read educative articles, read devotionals, etc. Be wiser by being more informed.
Watch through prayer (Eph 6:11-17)
Jesus says that without Him we can do nothing! There are many principalities and powers that will not want to see us arise and possess our possessions. So we must involve a matching power. We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, thus, we prevail over them in the place of prayer.
In conclusion, God doesn’t want us to continue relaxing where we are. He wants us to arise and walk through the land He has given to us. By walking, we carefully assess it, then we get adequately equipped to take over it.
Hence linger no longer, heed God’s word – ARISE, WALK THROUGH THE LAND!
