Respect, kindness, affection, romance, support, thoughtfulness, appreciation, and all such virtues compose the atmosphere of love. Interestingly, it can be created and generated by whosoever wills. An atmosphere of love can be found in real homes, not just in stories, books, or films.
People’s value and self-esteem increase in the atmosphere of love. When one finds himself in a place where he is loved and appreciated, it makes him bolder and much more surer of himself.
Atmosphere of love also boosts resourcefulness. It brings out the best in a man, just like a good fertile soil makes plants yield their strength, a good atmosphere helps one to reason straight and respond better.
Contrarily, the absence of this atmosphere doesn’t only sap one’s self-esteem, it also increases frustration, ill-health, separation, way-ward children, and even untimely death.
How then can we create such atmosphere of love in our home?
To achieve such a loving environment, you have to make it a goal. If you target it, then you can get it.
Secondly be ready to pay the sacrifice. Every good thing has got a price tag, so if you want an atmosphere of love to reign in your home, you must be ready to invest in it and to pay the sacrifices required : sacrifices of patience, prayer, tolerance, consistency, etc.
Moreover, you must be extravagant with appreciation – VERBAL REWARD ! Always appreciate every good action. Don’t hoard it. Don’t be quick and first to criticize people, and then reluctant to praise. People do better when they are appreciated, so do just that.
Finally, take practical steps in that direction : for example, create special days and activities in your family. Make special days special indeed. Look for opportunities for family get-together: Such as birthdays, marriage anniversary, Easter, Christmas, etc. Remember to spice up life, make it fun!
Who can create this kind of atmosphere ? Who can generate it? Who has the ability to bring it into existence ?
The answer is simple and straight forward – YOU. Yes, it’s you. Because you are a child of God, and God Himself is Love, therefore you have all it takes to generate an atmosphere of love. Do you know that you have been endowed with so much grace to achieve all that you want to achieve provided it’s in line with the will of God. And certainly, this one is.
Seek it prayerfully. Go into prayer partnership. And as a child of God, whatever you agree with someone in prayer, we are promised that we can have it (Matt. 18:19). So agree with your spouse for a love filled home. Where your spouse isn’t cooperative in prayer, be free to get into agreement with a trusted and spiritually mature prayer.
An atmosphere of love is the perfect will of God for homes and marriages. And with His help, we can create it and make it happen in our individual homes if we so wish.
